In addition to MMUIX have a look at FBR Gas Utility Index Fund (GASFX). It has a lower yield than MMUIX (2.68% vs. 3.28%) but it's risk adjusted returns are just as strong if not stronger and it has a slightly lower expense ratio of 0.76% vs. 0.82%. I suppose one big plus for MMUIX is the experience behind the fund. It's had the same manager since 1992, GASFX on the other hand has had the same manager since 2001 which I suppose is also pretty long. I suppose in the end it's ultimately about what's more important to you.

Thanks for your response Angelo. Katrina will be available soon to comment. I have checked out the fees on MMUIX and you are correct - the fund has a pretty decent ranking on Jemstep when it comes to the Utilities sector, especially taking fees into account.

Thanks Katrina, looking to add a U.S. utilities fund to my portfolio. I’m liking MMUIX (MFS Utilities Fund), it’s fees look pretty low.
